Flower padded along the territory, the air was quiet, too quiet.
"Fl-Flower? Do you hear something?" Wolf, a small rogue kitten meowed.
In fact, she could hear something, rustling around in the underbrush. Then it hit her, that smell, she knew it all to well. "RATS!!!"
As if on cue, thousands of rats raced across the forest floor pouncing on top of both Flower and Wolf. Flower managed to hold her own, but Wolf was struggling.
"Don't worry, Wolf! I'm coming!" She could barely hear her own voice in the floods of squeaks and hisses of the rats. She began tearing rats from her shoulder. Instant pain rushed through her as more crashed on top of her.
Suddenly, a small voice rose above the other "Help!"
Wolf's small cry pierced Flower harder than any rat could. But then it filled her with a new found strength. "Get away you filthy creatures!" She yowled, hissing. "You can go anywhere, but not here!"
Then like thunder, she began killing rats in packs of two or three at a time. "Leave!" She ordered "Leave, and never come back!"
Leaving as fast as they came, the rats began to scamper away. Flower, was not badly injured, neither really was Wolf. He looked terrified but still seemed fine. The forest returned to it's quiet state. All was peaceful.
"Let's get you home..." Flower suggested looking at her scared partner. Wolf didn't reply, he just nodded.
